Charmian Bartlett, originally from Sydney, Australia, now lives in Oxfordshire. She began lessons at age 6 and has played cello professionally in both Sydney and Seattle. After moving to the U.S. in 2001 she ran a teaching studio on the eastside of Seattle and she now teaches from her home studio in a beautiful historic village named Steeple Aston. Charmian particularly enjoys setting up beginner students with a great technique right from the start and working with more established players needing to solve technical challenges.
Performed professionally at Sydney's Theatre Royal as lead cello in the Sydney productions of 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'Miss Saigon' and played in Sydney and Seattle's recording industry for movie and game soundtracks and T.V. commercials.

On staff at SYSO (Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra) Summer Music Camp, Vashon Island Cello Camp.
Cello Coach for the Bellevue and Northshore School Districts and BYSO (Bellevue Youth Symphony Orchestra).

Played in the Cove Chamber Orchestra in Sydney, the Vashon Chamber Music Festival on Vashon Island and
currently plays in the Banbury Symphony Orchestra.
BMus - Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance, with merit, student of the year, Sydney Conservatorium.
LMusA - Licentiate in Music, Australia diploma in the subject of Cello Performance, the highest level of diploma awarded by the Australian Music Examination Board.
A.S.C.M. - Associate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, with merit.
LDip - Australian Law degree awarded by the Legal Profession Admission Board of N.S.W.
